Exhibition of Ron Mueck in MMCA Draws 100,000 Visitors

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) in Seoul is hosting an exhibition of world-renowned sculptor Ron Mueck, attracting over 100,000 visitors in just 20 days since its opening. This exhibition, co-organized with France's Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, is the largest retrospective in Asia showcasing Mueck's works. It features 10 sculptures, 12 studio photographs, and two documentary films, covering the span of his 30-year career. Visitors have flocked in large numbers, with weekend viewership averaging 7,400 and weekdays 4,200. The exhibition has set a record for daily average attendance since the Seoul branch opened. Curator Hong Ee-ji notes that the exhibition's appeal lies in the universal and realistic portrayal of human figures, sparking conversations and reflections on human existence. The exhibition uses intricate lighting and layout to immerse visitors, with many expressing admiration for the artist's dedication as showcased in one of the documentaries. The exhibition runs until July 13.
