On Distillery in Gwangju, South Korea, has introduced the country's first sesame-based distilled soju, named 'Yeon-Yeon 25'. Traditional sesame oil, known for its pleasant aroma, is commonly used in Korean dishes like bibimbap. However, its use in distillation is new due to its high fat content. On Distillery's sesame soju challenges conventional beliefs about sesame in alcohol. This innovative approach comes from Oh Kyu-seob, who wanted to create a new experience in the soju market, offering premium products with varying alcohol volumes - Hyung-Hyung 25, 40, 58 - and now sesame-infused Yeon-Yeon 25. This soju captures the essence of sesame's aroma, appealing to local and international palates alike. The distillery plans to introduce oak-barrel-aged soju soon, maintaining their dedication to premium Korean distilled spirits.
