Spectacular Jin-dong Fireworks Festival Lights Up May Night Sky in Changwon

The 'Jin-dong Fireworks Festival' in Changwon, with a tradition spanning 1,800 years, dazzled the skies in May. Organized by the Changwon Jin-dong Fireworks Preservation Association, the festival took place at Gwangam Hang, attracting around a thousand attendees, including local officials and citizens, who celebrated the significance of regional traditional culture together. The origins of Jin-dong Fireworks (Nakhwa) are traced back to 1,800 years ago, involving the burning of fireworks made from charcoal dust, originally part of festivities in Jin-dong area. After revival in 1995, the festival now offers hands-on traditional experiences like making and lighting Nakhwa ropes, engaging attendees with unforgettable cultural experiences.
