Korean Film and Drama Production Companies Struggling with Losses

More than half of the film and drama production companies listed on the Korean stock market reported losses last year due to soaring production costs. The number of productions decreased by over 20%. If successful movies and dramas fail to emerge, industries related to the 'K-wave', such as K-beauty, K-fashion, and K-food, might also suffer. The introduction of Netflix in Korea and the rise of short-form content have increased production costs and decreased demand for longer formats.
