Dubai has been officially certified as the first 'Certified Autism Destination' in the eastern hemisphere. This initiative, led by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, aims to make the city more accessible and inclusive for all residents and visitors. The certification process involved collaboration to improve accessibility across the travel ecosystem, including airlines, hotels, tourist attractions, and transport. Enhancements included employee training programs, visitor support, and the introduction of sensory guides and hidden disability lanyards. As a result, over 70,000 individuals have completed autism and sensory awareness training, enhancing the comfort of visitors with autism. This recognition marks a significant milestone in Dubai's efforts to enhance city accessibility and offer inclusive experiences.
