Artist Choi Jin-soon Encourages Embracing Shock to Discover New Worlds

Choi Jin-soon (73), a renowned Western painter from Gangneung, Korea, held a book talk at the 'The Narte' Gallery in Namyangju on October 26th, celebrating 60 years of his artistic journey. His essay collection, 'Soul Like Starlight, The Art of New Life,' features 25 essays and showcases about 90 of his representative works. Choi shared his theory that art needs to offer deep emotional impact, inspired by listening to German musician Edgar Froese. He believes that expressing intangible things like love and truth visually has been a long-standing challenge. His notable work 'Metaphysics' attempts to depict the invisible world through lines, colors, and pictorial elements. He concluded by advising not to fear being shocked by art, music, or books, but rather use these experiences to venture into new realms.
