South Korea Ranks 8th in Travel Intention Among East and Southeast Asian Visitors

A recent survey by Klook, involving 7,000 travelers from 14 countries including the Asia-Pacific region and the US and Australia, revealed that only 9% of East and Southeast Asian travelers expressed an intention to visit Korea. Surprisingly, South Korea ranks 8th in preference, following popular destinations like Japan, China, and Thailand. While Indonesia showed the highest interest with 15.4% of its travelers wishing to visit Korea, other countries like Singapore, Japan, and Thailand had less than 10% interest. Despite the country's advanced transport infrastructure, foreign visitors often face challenges with the local payment and identification systems. The survey highlights the need for Korea to improve access to regional attractions to become a more desirable tourist destination.
