The National Changgeuk Company of Korea's star performer, Lee So-yeon, will present her first solo Pansori performance of 'Jeokbyeok-ga' at Seoul's National Theater on May 17. Lee, who began her Pansori journey at age 11 under the tutelage of Song Soon-seop, a recognized master of the 'Jeokbyeok-ga', has earned acclaim for her talent, winning top honors at Korea's major traditional music competition, the Imbangul National Music Competition, in 2004. Her performance will focus on a narrative from the Chinese historical novel, 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms'. A unique style known as 'Park Bong-sul-je' will be showcased, characterized by its powerful, straightforward vocal delivery. This tradition of full-length Pansori performances, started in 1984, continues with the ongoing 'Complete Pansori' series at the National Theater.
