Kim Kwango's 'STEEL FLOWER' Exhibition in Gyeongbuk

From April 22 to June 5, the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation is hosting an exhibition titled 'STEEL FLOWER' by artist Kim Kwango at the Expo Culture Center. The exhibition features over 40 sculptural works made of steel, depicting traditional Korean flowers and plants such as plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo symbolizing four noble plants (사군자). Kim Kwango, known for blending the traditional and modern by transforming ink paintings into 3D steel sculptures, seeks to explore the boundaries between two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. His works are deeply influenced by the concept of 'shadow,' reflecting on identity and existence. A graduate from Kyungpook National University, Kim has a Ph.D. in Korean existential sculpture. This exhibition also aims to promote local art in light of the upcoming 2025 APEC summit in Gyeongju.
