South Korean companies are increasingly adopting eco-friendly technology for food packaging to reduce plastic usage and prevent food spoilage. Everchemtech has developed 'Nexrier,' a biodegradable material that uses waste milk protein (whey) to block oxygen, which is a major cause of food spoilage. This material is seen as a potential eco-friendlier replacement for Japanese EVOH products. Another company, Chemico Advanced Materials, has created a high-expansion foamed PP technology to lower plastic use and replace banned foamed PS (Styrofoam). This technology has been recognized for reducing plastic use by about 35% and greenhouse gas emissions by about 24%.
