Seoul Arts Center is set to debut a new opera titled 'The Rising World: The Water Spirit' in May, bringing a unique blend of Eastern and Western narratives. This innovative work, featuring traditional Korean instruments like the Geomungo, explores themes of uncertainty and change through a storyline set in a mythical kingdom plagued by water-related disasters. With contributions from celebrated creatives such as Australian composer Mary Finsterer and playwright Tom Wright, the opera promises a multi-sensory experience enriched by collaborations with the renowned Artemuseum. Notably, it includes visually striking media art and bespoke fragrances enhancing the immersive experience. Aimed at the global stage, this opera is poised to set new milestones for K-opera.
