Roberto Abbado Named Artistic Director of Korea National Symphony Orchestra

Roberto Abbado, an Italian conductor with prestigious musical lineage, has been appointed as the 8th Artistic Director of the Korea National Symphony Orchestra. He is the nephew of renowned conductor Claudio Abbado and has previously elevated the standing of the Munich Radio Symphony Orchestra in Germany. Abbado has also served as music director of festivals and prestigious musical institutions in Italy and Spain, such as the Verdi Festival and the Queen Sofía Palace of the Arts. He has already collaborated with the Korea National Symphony Orchestra in performances of the opera 'Norma' and Verdi's 'Requiem' in 2023. His term as Artistic Director will begin in January 2026 for three years.
