Jongmyo Shrine Renovation Completed After 5 Years - Reopens to Public

The Jongmyo Shrine, a cultural heritage site in Seoul originally constructed in 1395, has completed a five-year restoration project and will reopen to the public. This shrine is significant as it has long been used for royal ancestral rituals of the Joseon dynasty and is listed as a national treasure. Alongside the reopening, a special ritual procession called the 'Hwanan-je' will be conducted, marking the return of the ancestral tablets of the Joseon kings and queens to the shrine from their temporary location in Changdeokgung Palace. This event will feature a procession of 1,100 participants and traditional ceremonies and performances.
