Renowned Korean cellist Yang Sung-won commemorates his 50-year journey with cello by releasing a new album "Echo of Elegy" and organizing a 'Concerto Marathon Concert' on May 27, 2023 in Seoul. Yang started playing the cello at age seven, inspired by Hungarian-American cellist János Starker. He studied in France and the U.S., and made his debut in 2000 with an album featuring works by Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály. His new album includes Elgar's cello concerto and features collaboration with prominent Korean musicians. Yang, an influential figure in classical music, also teaches at Yonsei University and the Royal Academy of Music in London, nurturing future generations of musicians.
