Increase in Travel to Japan Despite Strong Yen

Despite the recent strengthening of the Japanese yen, the number of South Koreans traveling to Japan increased from December last year to February this year, according to data from Hana Card. While the number of travelers rose by 17.3% and spending increased by 15%, individual spending slightly decreased, suggesting cautious spending behaviors. The yen appreciation raises questions about future travel demand. Meanwhile, spending by Japanese tourists in Korea increased by 39% during the same period.
