In the first quarter of this year, the Korean imported car market saw a significant increase in hybrid vehicles (HEV) sales, surpassing 36,000 units, while traditional gasoline and diesel car sales continued to decline. Electric vehicle (EV) sales remained steady, and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) gained popularity. According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA), hybrid cars accounted for the majority of sales, highlighting shifting consumer preferences due to persistent limitations of EV infrastructure and driving range concerns. The industry is responding by introducing more high-performance hybrid and PHEV models to meet evolving demands.
