South Korean fashion platform Musinsa has released guidelines to prevent 'greenwashing', which is the act of making something appear environmentally friendly when it is not. These guidelines include principles for eco-friendly advertising, a self-check list, common misleading terms, and examples of advertising violations. They have been developed in consultation with a legal firm and will initially apply to Musinsa's own brand, with plans to extend them to 8,000 brands on their platform. This move follows a government warning to Musinsa for misleading eco-friendly advertising using terms like '#ecoleather' for synthetic leather products. Musinsa argues their products are more environmentally friendly than natural leather, but this claim was not accepted by the Fair Trade Commission.
