15-year-old violinist Kim Hyun-seo is gaining attention in the music world as a next-generation prodigy. Having begun playing the violin at 4 years old, Kim secured second place at the prestigious Viotti International Music Competition last year competing against adults. She is slated to enter Korea National University of Arts, known as 'Han Ye Jong' (Han Ye Jong refers to the Korean National University of Arts), to study as a gifted student at the age of 15, a record she shares with other young talents like flutist Han Ye-jin and cellist Han Jae-min. When navigating tough parts in music, Kim reads history and literature to resolve her confusion and find inspiration. With support from the Hyundai Chung Mong-koo Foundation, who has aided similar talents with scholarships, Kim is planning her future studies to include chamber music and orchestral experiences. Her upcoming performances include the Ondream Concert and the Tongyeong International Music Festival.
