A historical document from 1836 called 'Euijangjeolmok' has been discovered, shedding light on how the Ryoo family (a Korean clan) in Hahoemaeul village, Andong, collectively managed funds to ensure no family member was too poor to pay taxes during the oppressive political system of the 19th century. The document outlines the purpose of pooling money from family members to cover taxes, public labor duties without pay, and the grain loan system. It also includes detailed regulations about fund management and the inclusion of family members in this system. This rare record illustrates communal efforts to prevent families from disgrace and support clan unity under heavy tax burdens historically prevalent in late Joseon Dynasty Korea.
