Hyunsu Kang, the principal tuba player of the Hankyung Arte Philharmonic Orchestra, shares his passion for the tuba, a brass instrument responsible for deep bass that anchors the orchestra's sound. Kang began playing the tuba in high school and pursued a fast-track professional performance career after graduating from Seoul National University. In his role, he melds the tuba's deep tones with string instruments like the contrabass. Kang finds joy in the vibrant and youthful atmosphere of his orchestra, describing the tuba's heat-demanding performance as akin to the sun, rather than the bulkier Jupiter, due to its need for extensive breathing and its central role in the orchestra.
