The town of Hwacheon in Gangwon Province is bustling with citizens and tourists on the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday, January 25th. The area is hosting the 2025 Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival, which will run until February 2nd. The festival is famous for ice fishing and various winter activities, celebrating the local mountain trout, or "sancheoneo."
