K-Food exports in the first quarter of 2025 reached $2.48 billion, up 9.6% from the previous year. The export growth was mainly driven by processed foods like ramen due to global popularity of spicy flavors. Significant increases were seen in exports to regions such as the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) at 37.9% and the EU (European Union) at 34.1%. Fresh produce like grapes saw a 40.6% rise, particularly in small bunches for self-consumption in markets like Taiwan and the US. The increase in Samgye-tang (Korean traditional chicken soup) exports follows a trend in easy-to-prepare meal solutions in the US. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs plans to continue supporting export growth through market diversification and strengthening logistics infrastructure.
