Seoul Milk Faces Challenges Despite Strong Sales in Korean Dairy IndustryCreatrip Team
8 months ago
Seoul Milk Cooperative maintained its lead in the Korean dairy industry, achieving over 2 trillion won in sales for the second consecutive year by capitalizing on high-quality domestic raw milk with products like their premium A2+ milk. Despite the success, challenges like declining milk consumption and non-tariff imported dairy products loom large. A2+ milk, which excludes the stomach-upsetting A1 protein, has been well-received in the market, securing a 44.9% market share. However, due to low profitability compared to competitors, tackling the free trade agreement (FTA) resulting in non-tariff imported milk, which could further drive local milk demand down, becomes crucial. Seoul Milk aims to shift to A2-only raw milk by 2030 to support its growth and address lactose intolerance issues for Koreans.
