NH Cup Park Golf for Farmers Kicks Off in Chuncheon Despite Rain

The 2nd NH (National Agricultural Cooperative Federation) Chairman’s Park Golf Tournament for farmers opened September 1 at Soyanggang Park Golf in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. Hosted by NH and co-organized with the NH Rural-Urban Cooperation Movement Headquarters and the Korea Park Golf Association, the event aims to promote healthy leisure and unity among farmers. After the opening ceremony, regional qualifiers will be held across nine zones, with finalists competing October 28–29. About 350 local farmers played in the rainy Chuncheon qualifier; roughly 5,000 participants are expected nationwide—up from last year—competing in individual and team categories. The tournament also seeks to boost local economies through visitor spending and to embody NH’s “Nongsim Cheonsim (農心天心)” campaign: a “Nongsim Cheonsim Buddy Zone” will convert each birdie into a 5 kg bag of rice to be donated to welfare organizations at the finals. Organizers provided supportive services such as an eco-friendly hydrogen bus rest area and promotional booths for hometown donation programs. NH Chairman Kang Ho-dong expressed hope the event would offer farmers a chance to relax, build friendships, and advance rural well-being.
