Studio Huaya's 'Her Fortune' Wins Best Feature Animation at Montevideo Film Festival

Studio Huaya, a startup from the Webtoon IP Startup Support Center, won Best Feature Animation at the Montevideo International Film Festival for its fantasy animation 'Her Fortune' (그 여자의 사주팔자). The film follows I San-ah, a disgraced veteran turned delivery worker who journeys into the spirit world of ancestors to change her fate. Based on a government-supported early-stage project originally titled 'Ajumma, I’m Going to Fix My Fate' (아줌마, 팔자고치러 갈래요?), the work expanded into a full production. Director Lee Jin-hwa founded Studio Huaya through the center’s tailored startup program and is developing a follow-up series, 'Fortune Expedition Corps' (팔자원정대), where characters repair others’ fortunes as a secret society. The film will also have a virtual screening at the Richmond International Film Festival in the U.S., and Lee says she plans to further develop the IP for global audiences.
