Seoul100K, an ultratrail race, released a 100K course that includes about 40 km, with a section passing along Bukhansan Dullegil (Bukhansan Dulle-gil) despite a ban on trail running events in Bukhansan National Park. Organizers negotiated permission to let the race cross the park only as a designated "walking & low-speed" section: participants must walk (no running), avoid passing others, yield to regular hikers, and any times recorded in this stretch will not count toward awards. Park staff and race marshals will monitor compliance. Officials say the park’s rules allow locally organized "walking events" under agreement, so this arrangement does not conflict with the existing ban on running races. Some runners welcomed that the event can proceed, while others criticized it as a compromised or “half” race, questioning how low-speed will be enforced. The practice of setting low-speed or no-passing zones is common in other countries such as Japan for sensitive areas like national parks, temples, and crowded paths. (Monthly SAN, September issue)
