BIFF Joins Global A-List: 315 Films to Screen in Busan

The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), now recognized as an A-list festival alongside Cannes by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), will run for ten days from next month’s 6th. Organizers announced the program at a press conference in Seoul, revealing 246 officially invited films from 59 countries, including 95 world premieres, and a total of 315 films when unofficial screenings are counted. The competition slate features 14 films, including four new works by Korean directors such as Kim Jeong-hoon’s “Myeondo” (면도) and international entries like Hirose Nanako’s “Between Two Rivers” and Iran’s acclaimed director Majid Majidi’s “Bread and Books.” BIFF officials said the overall quality of submissions has risen significantly since FIAPF elevated BIFF to A-list status, marking the festival’s first official recognition as a top-tier global film festival.
