Hyundai Mobis Accelerates Robot Mass Production: Expands Hiring Beyond R&D

Hyundai Mobis is scaling up its robotics organization and preparing for mass production of humanoid robot components. The company is hiring broadly across purchasing, quality, design, and business planning roles to move the robot business from development to commercialization. Open positions cover robotics motor, mechanism, and electronic design; parts purchasing for autonomous driving and robotics; new-vehicle robotics quality; and robotics business planning. Purchasing teams will source partners, select suppliers, and build production capacity (CAPA), while business planners will set long-term strategies, evaluate investments, and find global partners, including joint ventures and supply-chain contracts. Hyundai Mobis will leverage its automotive parts mass-production experience to standardize and supply key robot parts, notably actuators (components combining motor, gearbox, and controller that move robot joints). The Hyundai Motor Group aims to secure capacity to produce 350,000 actuators per year in the U.S. by 2028 — enough for roughly 10,000 Atlas humanoids if each uses 31 actuators — and plans to deploy Boston Dynamics’ Atlas robots in U.S. plants from 2028. The market will watch whether Hyundai Mobis can expand customers beyond Boston Dynamics and achieve stable supply chains and competitive pricing for large-scale humanoid production.
