The Korea Consumer Agency has identified 9 domestic and international food products that have reduced their package sizes while raising unit prices, a practice referred to as 'shrinkflation'. This involves subtly increasing prices by reducing product sizes instead of directly altering the price tag. Notably, many of these goods did not properly notify consumers about the changes in size, which goes against fair trade practices. Shrinkflation was detected in both Korean and imported products such as Jeju Tangerine Chocolate and Black Thunder Mini Bars. Businesses engaging in such acts may face fines under the 'Notification of Unfair Consumer Transactions', effective since August last year.
