LG Uplus Joins Asia-Pacific 'WonderJoy' Alliance to Offer Local Telecom Benefits to Travelers

LG Uplus has joined the Asia-Pacific 'WonderJoy Travel Alliance' as the Korean partner, allowing its customers to use partner telecom membership perks when traveling abroad. The alliance—whose members include Singapore's Singtel, Japan's KDDI, Hong Kong HKT, Thailand AIS, Taiwan Mobile, Indonesia Telkomsel and Australia Optus—shares shopping, transport, airport and F&B benefits across countries through member apps. LG Uplus piloted offers in Japan (discounts at Don Quijote, Lawson, taxi discounts, Mt. Fuji tours) and recorded over 10,000 coupon downloads with high redemption rates. The full service, to be launched as an app-based global membership this year, will expand partnerships with travel and commerce platforms (Grab, KKDAY, DragonPass, etc.) to provide booking, activities and local deals, improving roaming by adding on-the-ground benefits for travelers.
