Kosmax Helps Launch Indonesia’s First University Cosmetology Degree to Build ASEAN R&D Talent

KOSMAX, a cosmetics ODM company, has partnered with Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD) in West Java to help establish Indonesia’s first bachelor’s degree in Cosmetology within UNPAD’s Faculty of Pharmacy. The program covers full cosmetics R&D—skin and hair basic research, formulation development, safety and efficacy testing—and aims to shift the local industry from manufacturing to formulation and R&D. KOSMAX joins an ABG (Academia-Business-Government) program, a government-led collaboration to commercialize academic research, and will expand joint studies using Indonesian natural resources such as Tempoyak (traditional fermented durian) and Angkak (red yeast rice) for antioxidant and whitening/functional ingredients. The company will support a campus teaching factory and year-round internships to train local R&D talent and help meet stricter cosmetics regulations and halal certification requirements.
