Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est to Perform in Busan for Korea-France 140th Anniversary

The Orchestre national de Metz Grand Est from eastern France will perform at Busan Concert Hall on September 20 at 3 PM to celebrate the 140th anniversary of Korea-France diplomatic ties. Conductor David Reiland (former chief conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Korea) and French organist Lucile Dollat will join the orchestra. The program features French works including Claude Debussy’s La Mer (three symphonic sketches for orchestra), Maurice Ravel’s waltz, and Camille Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No.3 in C minor, Op.78 (the “Organ” symphony) — highlighted by the collaboration with Busan Concert Hall’s pipe organ. The orchestra, based in Metz (a city in northeastern France), was designated an Orchestre national in 2022 and is known for blending French musical tradition with contemporary sensibilities. Organizer ClassicBusan says the concert aims to expose local audiences to world-class international performers and broaden the regional classical scene.
