South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced a promotional campaign to boost rural tourism during the autumn travel season running through October. From Sept. 27 to Oct. 8, the ministry will solicit travel plans and stories for the “Perfect Autumn Rest: Stay-and-Relax ‘Chon-cance’ (촌캉스 — a staycation in the countryside)” campaign, selecting 30 teams to receive up to 100,000 won in accommodation support. Selected teams must stay at one of 72 designated rural experience villages (농촌체험휴양마을) by October and post reviews on social media. The campaign combines online and offline promotions to encourage visits to the countryside and support local tourism.
