Emart is pursuing a multi-pronged offline strategy: opening new stores in the Chungcheong region (Cheongju likely) by year-end, expanding quick-commerce to 132 stores from about 110, and renovating outlets to boost in-store appeal. Cheongju is attractive because of nearby industrial hubs (e.g., SK Hynix, LG Energy Solution) and Emart is also involved in a TechnoPark mixed-use development there. Emart plans to open a Traders store in Uijeongbu this year as well. Quick-commerce uses SSG.com’s instant delivery ‘BaroQuick’ and orders via Baedal Minjok (delivery app), with local short-distance delivery where instant service isn’t available. Private brand No Brand rapidly scaled its delivery footprint, and most Emart channels except Traders will offer quick-commerce. Store renewals include converting several hypermarkets to the Starfield Market format and adding in-store digital signage for a retail media network (RMN) ad business. Emart reports stronger sales after recent renewals (single-store sales up 9–20% or more) and improved Q2 results: consolidated sales rose 3.5% year-on-year and operating profit jumped 64.1%. Management says continued investment in price, assortment, and space innovation will strengthen core competitiveness and market position.
