PKM Opens Yoon Hyung-geun House with Retrospective of 30 Key Works

PKM Gallery marks the opening of artist Yoon Hyung-geun’s former Seogyo-dong home by presenting a retrospective, “Reimagining Yoon Hyung-geun,” from Sept. 26 to Oct. 3. The show features about 30 major works and archival materials spanning the 1970s to the 2000s. The main building displays early 'Cheonjimun' (heaven-and-earth motifs) pieces and experimental works including 1980s bleeding effects, while the annex highlights the pared-down, structural late paintings influenced by Donald Judd and four works on hanji (traditional Korean paper). The restored Seogyo-dong house—opened to the public Sept. 1—preserves the first-floor studio with paint marks and tools, and the second-floor living space containing personal mementos and a room honoring the artist’s wife. Visits are limited to 8 people per guided tour; the house will operate through Oct. 17 and then seasonally from 2027. The exhibition will continue at the Judd Foundation in New York from Oct. 8 through Jan. 9, 2027.
