South Korea’s Consumer Agency tested 13 popular nonstick frying pans for coating durability, safety, handle quality and more. Using intense abrasion tests (including a 10 kg steel scrubber rubbed 3,000 times), 8 pans showed excellent coating durability: Dorco, Lock&Lock, Livingstar, Modern House, Zwilling, Homeplus, ELO, and PN Poongnyun. Notably, several well-performing pans cost in the low 10,000 won range (around 11,940–17,640 won at the time of the 2022 purchase), showing that higher price does not guarantee better coating life. All 13 models met safety standards for harmful substances (no PFOA/PFOS detected) and passed tests for handle quality, oil leakage, appearance and structure. The report recommends choosing a pan based on personal cooking habits—prioritize coating durability, weight (for wrist strain), cooking area for stir-frying, and extra features—rather than price or brand alone.
