Seoul Seeks Startups to Add AI to Temple and Traditional Medicine Tourism

Seoul is inviting startups (within seven years of founding) to apply by Sept. 9 for a program to develop AI and digital services that make Korean traditional tourism—such as temple food, templestay (temple accommodation/experience), and hanbang (traditional Korean medicine)—easier for foreign visitors. Proposals can include multilingual reservation and guidance systems for temple cuisine and templestay, AI-based temple/Buddhist culture interpretation, and personalized wellness tourism combining hanbang experiences with health services. Selected startups will receive up to 10 million won in proof-of-concept funding, mentoring from accelerators, and Seoul’s online/offline promotion to test services with foreign tourists. Evaluation will consider feasibility, execution capability, sustainability, and local tourism impact.
