Harmony of Melody and Brushstrokes: Kim Choha Art Concert in Hoengseong

Pianist Kim Choha, who has a developmental disability and hails from Hoengseong, will present an art concert titled "Artists and Students Together - Art, Story~" at the Hoengseong Cultural Arts Center on the 25th. The program opens with Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 11, followed by Brahms’ Hungarian Dances Nos. 1, 4 and 5 performed as a four-hands (piano duet) piece with collaborator Jo Byunghyun, a special-education teacher. Gabriel Fauré’s Fantasy for Flute and Piano features Kim’s brother, flutist Kim Mokin. Selections from film, animation and musical scores (including Pirates of the Caribbean and Kiki’s Delivery Service) are also included. The concert highlights collaboration between a disabled artist and students with disabilities: 16 special-class students from Hoengseong Elementary and Ucheon Middle will have their artworks exhibited. Under painter Byeongidam’s guidance, the students listened to the music beforehand and translated emotions and images into paintings; those works will also be integrated into stage visuals and concert video. The event emphasizes inclusive arts education and creative community engagement.
