Choi Koo-hee, a guitarist who played with influential Korean rock band Deulgukhwa (들국화) and groups The Eccentrics (괴짜들) and Faith-Hope-Love (믿음소망사랑), died on the 16th at age 67 after battling stomach cancer. Fellow musicians remembered him as a brilliant, free-spirited player who captured natural sounds in his guitar work. Choi recorded as a session musician on Deulgukhwas first album (1985) and became an official member on their second album (1986), writing and composing songs like "You and I" and "Quiet Heart." He later released solo albums including My Friend (1989), Volume One—Mountain Breeze (2009), and From Halla to Baekdu (2023). Colleagues paid tribute on social media, honoring his talent and wishing him peace.
