Starting April 18, the South Korean government will open 10 thematic routes called 'DMZ Peace Road' in areas adjoining the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). These routes span across regions like Incheon, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon-do. The initiative aims to allow visitors to experience and appreciate the value of security, peace, and freedom through ecological and cultural resources. In collaboration with various ministries and local governments, the routes will offer guided tours where participants can enjoy the unique natural resources and hear engaging stories from local guides. The tours require prior online registration, and although there's a participation fee, it's returned as local product vouchers. This project seeks to rejuvenate the tourism and economy of border regions while highlighting the sacrifices made for freedom and peace.
