A study by Dr. Inbal Goldstein's team from Israel's KI Institute, published in the JAMA Network Open, reveals that breastfeeding for over six months can significantly reduce the risk of developmental disorders in children. The analysis of 570,532 infants showed that those exclusively breastfed for six months had a 27% lower risk of neurological developmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and cerebral palsy. Additionally, they were 18% less likely to experience delays in language and social development. The World Health Organization recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life and continued breastfeeding with a healthy diet for at least two years.
