The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, located in Cheongju, is hosting an exclusive exhibition dedicated to watercolor paintings for the first time. The exhibition, titled 'Watercolor: Painting Water,' showcases over 100 works from 34 Korean artists, including notable names like Lee Jung-seop and Gu Bon-woong. Highlighting the historical importance of watercolor art in Korea, the exhibition features rare pieces, some displayed for the first time ever, such as those from the Lee Geon-hee Collection. The museum itself is a unique converted tobacco factory that opened in 2018 with a transparent display of stored artworks drawing over 1 million visitors. This exhibition will be open until September 7th, providing an insight into the delicate yet powerful nature of watercolor painting in Korea.
