Marianto, an Indonesian artist, challenges traditional landscape art by depicting the harsh realities of overdevelopment through a unique technique. His works, which highlight the environmental degradation caused by reckless deforestation and resource exploitation in Indonesia, use black acrylic scratched off the canvas to evoke the damage ignored by many. Marianto's powerful art has been recognized internationally and was showcased in Gwangju's National Asian Cultural Complex in Korea. His solo exhibition, featuring new works created during his stay in Korea, is open at the Ji Gallery in Seoul until April 12th.
