German violinist Christian Tetzlaff, known for his collaborations with major orchestras worldwide, has cancelled 22 planned performances in the United States in protest of former President Donald Trump's policies, particularly concerning Russia. Tetzlaff believes music represents essential values like freedom and equality, which he feels are threatened in the current U.S. political climate. He highlights that in music history, composers such as Beethoven have expressed political resistance through their works. Tetzlaff plans to perform in Seoul and Busan in May, focusing on compositions that contrast in musical elements. An emphasis will be placed on underappreciated composer Josef Suk, alongside works by Brahms and Franck.
