Photographer Choi Ik-hwa presents 'Surfaces of Time' at Chuncheon Art Plaza Gallery from the 10th to 15th. The show focuses on tidal flats—where land meets water—and captures lines, planes and textures formed by water flows, sediment layers and light over time. Choi describes the tidal flat as a living space of continual creation, persistence and change; each surface, shaped by tides, wind and waves, never repeats. Using close-up shots to reveal fine textures and occasionally stepping back to compose more abstract images, he blends photographic techniques with digital-painterly effects to blur the border between photography and painting. The artist says his work seeks realms beyond what is immediately visible, treating natural surfaces as records of time and photography as a way to learn to see the world anew.
