Food company Ottogi held its 17th creative cooking contest for culinary students, inviting 210 second-year students from Korean Culinary Science High School to form 70 three-person teams. The theme was inventive dishes using Ottogi instant noodles such as Jin Ramen, Yeul Ramen, Jin Jjambbong, and Bibim Men. A panel of company staff and guest chefs judged entries. The top prize went to a team that presented a Chinese-style fusion set: 'Jin-Jam-man' (Chinese dumplings filled with pork and noodles flavored with Jin Jjambbong liquid soup), 'Jin Soon Seafood Soup' (a reimagined nurungji-tang — scorched rice soup — using Jin Ramen mild beef-bone stock with fried noodles and seafood), and 'Yeul-yo Utiao' (a Chinese twisted fried dough, you tiao, coated in crushed noodles and served with a sweet-spicy Yeul Ramen oil sauce). Ottogi said the contest aims to help students develop as foodservice professionals and to showcase the versatility of its noodle products.
