Kosé (Korean company Kolmar) opened a 'Sensory Lounge' at its R&D center in Seoul to isolate scents and test fragranced products—shampoos, body washes, perfumes—under controlled light, ventilation and with props like partial wigs and T-shirts to compare aroma on hair vs fabric. The facility speeds product development by enabling same-day feedback integration. As global demand for scented products grows, Kolmar is advancing fragrance formulation and diffusion-control technologies and building a database of native Korean botanicals to create unique ‘Korean-style’ scents. Fragrance-related product orders from overseas clients rose, and Kolmar’s new fragrance product sales grew 85% in Jan–Jun. Korea’s perfume exports have quintupled over four years, and domestic scent brands are posting strong growth, signaling K-beauty’s expansion into personalized and space-specific fragrances for brands, hotels and retail stores.
