7-Eleven Korea is launching four new desserts on March 9 to target MZ-generation cravings for visually striking, SNS-friendly sweets. The lineup includes a Jeju tangerine “Wakkpup Ball” inspired by the popular tactile toy (왁뿌볼, wax-squeezing ball) — a chocolate-coated shell with Jeju tangerine filling that mimics breaking a hard wax shell to reach a soft toy inside. Another item, the “DOT Cake,” copies a colorful cup-cake trend from TikTok with bright dot sprinkles and a crunchy texture. Two K-desserts were developed with 60-year-old bakery Buchang Bakery: a walnut cream brownie and a chewy walnut-chapssaltteok (찹쌀떡, glutinous rice cake) with Lotus biscuit spread for both chewiness and crunch. 7-Eleven says dessert sales have surged (15% in 2024 vs. prior year, 23% last year, and 49% growth in H1 this year) as viral products and brand collaborations drive demand, and it plans to keep converting SNS trends and expanding regional/traditional partnerships to strengthen its dessert selection shop.
