Chef Lim Seong-geun, winner of tvN’s Hansik Battle (한식대첩) and a contestant on Netflix’s The Cook-Up: Cooking Class Wars (흑백요리사: 요리 계급 전쟁) season 2, opened a new restaurant in Paju near Simhaksan. The three-story venue serves kimchi jjageuli (김치짜글이, a thick kimchi stew) on the first floor, grilled ribs called Parkpo Galbi (박포갈비) on the second, and a café on the third. During the soft opening from June 6–8, the restaurant drew crowds; an Instagram food account reported that the lunch service, which began at 11:00, was sold out by 12:15. The jjageuli portion was priced at 14,000 KRW with free rice, fried egg, and extra noodles. Lim, who faced backlash over a past drunk-driving incident and withdrew from other media activities, focused on opening the restaurant and used a popular recipe from his YouTube channel. Critics and fans have been eager to try dishes that drew attention on TV and impressed judges on the Netflix show.
