Gangwon Official Photographer Jo Gyu-nam Selected for Megarupa International Photo Exhibition in Bali

Jo Gyu-nam, a photographer and public officer from the Gangwon Provincial Government, had two works selected for the Megarupa International Photo Exhibition 2026 in Bali. The exhibition is part of the Festival Seni Bali Jani (Bali Jani Arts Festival) and runs from May 11–25 with the theme “Silence, Contemplation, and Quiet Reflection.” Jo’s photographs depict views through doors and windows of ruined buildings, capturing the coexistence of human traces and nature’s recovery over time. His understated images emphasize disappearance, recovery, and the persistence of life in silence, aligning closely with the exhibition’s theme. Jo said ruins are not an end but a new beginning, and he hopes his documentary-style photos will quietly resonate with international audiences.
